Volunteers are the heart and soul of our organization.

As a nonprofit agency, we value the dedication of our volunteers and their tireless efforts. Our volunteers devote valuable time to help keep our programs and services available to the communities we serve. Board members, camp volunteers, friends and others invest their time and talents helping our agency provide hope and healing to the children we serve. While words are insufficient to show the depth of our appreciation, we want say “Thank You” for all you do!

Our volunteers are required to complete the volunteer application and all child clearances. Once the application is received, we will meet with you to see where your interests and talents can be best utilized. All volunteers receive training related to grief and loss. We look forward to having you join our team!

High school students seeking credits to meet school volunteer requirements should note that Hands Holding Hearts is an approved LINCS organization.

All volunteers 18 and older are required by Pennsylvania State Act 153 to submit a criminal background check and child abuse clearance. Please use the following online forms:

  • Child Abuse Clearance – Required for all volunteers.  Click “Create Individual Account” to begin.
  • Criminal Background Check – Required for all volunteers.  Click New Record Check – “Volunteers Only” to begin.
  • FBI Clearance – Required for all volunteers who have lived outside of PA within the past ten years. Enter Department of Human Services Volunteers code: 1KG6ZJ to begin. This clearance covers all work under the Department of Human Services.
